Gulliver is the second record by three well-known Italian improvisers, Maurizio Brunod on guitars, Danilo Gallo on double bass, and Massimo Barbiero on drums and percussion, who perform a heterogeneous repertoire made up of songs drawn from popular traditions from around the world, and some original compositions, creating a fascinating fluid and coherent sequence as if they were playing a single suite, between jazz, rock, folk, improvisation, and extemporaneity. The three musicians have played all over the world, and each of them boasts prestigious collaborations, prizes and awards, and have been featured in top jazz referendums around the world for years now. Brunod has played with Enrico Rava, Miroslav Vitous, Ralph Towner, Alexander Balanescu, Tim Berne, Gianluigi Trovesi, John Surman , Daniele di Bonaventura, Dave Gilmore, Elliott Sharp, a.o. Danilo Gallo, in about 2000 concerts, 130 records, in over 30 years of activity, among others, has played with Benny Golson, John Tchicai, Steve Grossman, Enrico Rava, Bill Frisell, Uri Caine, Marc Ribot, Trilok Gurtu, Hamid Drake, Rob Mazurek, Roberto Ottaviano, a.o. Massimo Barbiero founded the legendary Enten Eller, he created the percussion-only project Odwalla, with which he recorded 12 CDs (one with Billy Cobham) and three DVDs, participating in hundreds of festivals in Italy and abroad.
